Getting into PPC
Interested in trying a new challenge? Start with a conversation. We can help you understand the sport and the steps to take part.
Get to know the sport
Police Pistol Combat is precision target shooting under timed conditions. The BRRC PPC league shoots both PPC 600 and Service matches, giving shooters a way to follow their scores and progress over time.
Want to check it out, come on out any Sunday night between 6pm and 8pm to see what we do (open to club members only). We are happy to chat and love to have chats with new members.
Note: PPC does not run on any Holiday Weekend.
Learn more about PPC →Get comfortable shooting
Before you decide to participate in PPC, you should be comfortable shooting and have basic skills with a pistol.
Shooters who are inexperienced with pistol shooting are required to visit the BRRC Basic Pistol skills program or practice with their own pistol until they are comfortable shooting. We require people have shot a minimum of 1000 rounds before joining the PPC league.
With the recent changes in government regulations, we understand that new participants may not have access to an appropriate firearm to participate in PPC. BRRC has club owned pistols available for a small fee (only available to properly licensed members of BRRC). The Basic Pistol Skills program can get you up to speed with the basic aspects of pistol shooting before you proceed to the next step.
Contact the PPC director
When you are ready, reach out to us! Tell us whether you are a BRRC member, what shooting experience you have and whether you hold a club holster qualification. If you do not currently hold a suitable holster qualification (Club PPC, IPSC Black Badge, a member of a security company with a valid ATC or an active or retired peace officer), we periodically host suitable introduction and qualification courses.
Training is only available to members of the Burlington Rifle Revolver Club.
Ppc.director@rangeburlington.caHave the proper equipment
We have a few holsters available to try before you commit to purchasing any equipment.
To partipate long term, you will require a sturdy belt, a holster and magazine pouches to hold at least 4 magazines.
Holsters should be mounted to a sturdy belt and are required to cover the trigger on semi-automatics.
Some Recommended Equipment:
Belt: Double Tap Sports Competition Belt - A sturdy belt with a Velcro inner and outer to keep everything stable.
Mag Pouches: Some Examples of Suitable Mag Pouches - Choose mag pouches that work for you.
Holster: Black Scorpion Pro Holster - Note: The Walther PDP 5" holster linked will fit many different firearms. If you do not own a firewarm, we are currently recommending this holster as it fits many common firearms you will use (CZ Shadow 1 and 2, S&W M&P, CZ P10F, ect.)
A conversation with the league before buying equipment can help you choose what suits your needs.
Follow your progress
Once you are participating, filling out your scoresheet gives you access to the league results website. Your shooter dashboard brings together your recorded scores, personal bests, recent averages and attendance dates.
Get your BRRC club level holster certification
Once you are participating, filling out your scoresheet and have participated a minimum number of nights, the PPC League Officer will sign off on your slip to get club holster certified.
